APPLE STRIKES BACK AT LOWER FORECASTS

Fourth quarter results in iPhone sales and revenues higher than expected.

 

  • Revenue: $42.1 billion, Forecast: about $40 billion
  • Earnings: up 20 per cent to $1.42 a share, Forecast: roughly $1.31
  • Net income: up 13 per cent to $8.5 billion
  • Smartphone sales including iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models: 39.3 million
  • Spend on dividends and share buybacks in the quarter: $20 billion
  • iPad units sold: 12.3 million, below forecasts of 13 million
  • iPad revenues: 14 per cent below the same period last year
  • Expected revenues for the current quarter: Between $63.5 billion and $66.5 billion
